چکیده
Risk-based design of marine pressure hulls require computationally efficient and precise models predicting collapse pressures ring stiffened cylindrical shells as a function realistic geometrical imperfections. However, the empirical interframe commonly implemented in codes do not explicitly depend on imperfections, existing analytical are only valid for axisymmetrically imperfect shells. The goal is to derive an model that depends axisymmetric asymmetric In order such model, first stress development investigated using nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) twelve having imperfections only. knowledge gained from these investigations used qualify three models. One them, integral introduced by authors, accurate sufficiently precise. It uses new definition collapse, which also allows

This study investigates the buckling behavior of short cylindrical shells with hemi-spherical heads subjected to hydrostatic pressure. It is assumed that the length of the cylindrical part is smaller than or equal to its diameter while its material may be dif-ferent from that of hemispherical heads. Finite element analysis was used to seek out the effect of geometric parameters such as thicknes...
متن کاملElastic Buckling Analysis of Ring and Stringer-stiffened Cylindrical Shells under General Pressure and Axial Compression via the Ritz Method
Elastic stability of ring and stringer-stiffened cylindrical shells under axial, internal and external pressures is studied using Ritz method. The stiffeners are rings, stringers and their different arrangements at the inner and outer surfaces of the shell. Critical buckling loads are obtained using Ritz method. It has been found that the cylindrical shells with outside rings are more stable th...
متن کاملTheoretical and Experimental Collapse Analysis of Ring Stiffened Shells Using Finite Element Software Packages and Application of Results to a Submarine Pressure Hull
It is empirically established that, due to a number of factors involved, a classical (linear) analysis of buckling pressure is impossible. Nonlinear theories of buckling are, therefore, required that involve effective factors such as imperfections and welding effects. In this study, models are developed which are as close to allowable standard deviations as possible. In the next stage, their bu...
